💗 Wisdom Wednesday: Messy Food Play💗
Messy food play is more than just fun; it’s meaningful learning in action! When children are given the chance to touch, squish, smear, smell, and explore food without pressure to eat, they are building important skills that support feeding development.
Messy play helps children feel more comfortable with new foods, reduce anxiety around mealtimes, and explore different textures in a safe and playful way. It also supports sensory development by helping children learn what foods feel, look, and even sound like when they interact with them.
What may look like “just a mess” is actually powerful learning. 💡 Each moment of exploration helps build curiosity, confidence, and a more positive relationship with food.

✨ Over the past several weeks, Speech Plus Therapy Services has had the opportunity to participate in several wonderful community events, including Columbia College SLP Day 2026 and Parent Connections 2026, hosted by the Lexington One Special Education Parent Advisory Board.
Kelly and Robin had the pleasure of connecting with future SLPs and SLPAs during Columbia College's SLP Day and sharing their passion for supporting children and families through speech and feeding therapy.
